PROCESSOR

1. PENGERTIAN PROCESSOR

Processor juga disebut sebagai otak dan pusat pengendali computer. Processor merupakan sebuah IC yang berfungsi untuk mengontrol keseluruhan jalannya sebuah sistem komputer dan digunakan sebagai pusat atau otak dari komputer untuk melakukan perhitungan dan menjalankan tugas. Processor terletak pada socket yang telah disediakan oleh motherboard. Processor juga dapat diganti dengan processor lainnya apabila sesuai dengan socket yang ada pada motherboard.Dalam arti lain, Prosesor juga dapat diartikan sebagai sebuah chip dengan nama “Microprosessor” yang sekarang ukurannya sudah mencapai Gigahertz (GHz). Ukuran tersebut adalah hitungan kecepatan prosesor dalam mengolah data atau informasi.Merk prosesor yang banyak beredar AMD, Apple, Cyrix VIA, IBM, IDT, dan Intel.

Bagian dari Prosesor Bagian terpenting dari prosesor terbagi 3 yaitu :

1.Aritcmatics Logical Unit (ALU)

2. Control Unit (CU)

3. Memory Unit (MU)

2. Fungsi prosesor

Prosesor berfungsi sebagai alat untuk memproses data yang diterima dari masukan (input) yang seterusnya akan menghasilkan keluaran (output). Pada waktu prosesor memperoses data ,prosesor juga akan terhubung dengan komponen computer yang lain , terutama Hardisk dan RAM. Sealin itu fungsi processor juga sebagai tempat penghubung, penyusun, pengatur seluruh bentuk data dan proses kerja komputer dalam berbagai hal, dalam hal ini processor bertugas dalam membagi-bagi pekerjaan masing-masing dari fungsi perangkat komputer, serta pengawas struktur dan cara kerja perangkat-perangkat komputer. Jika ada bahagian perangkat komputer yang error, maka otomatis juga akan mempengaruhi proses kerja processor itu juga.
